SERMON: THE BEWITCHED MIND

Last week we began our series on the “Bondage of the Mind.” This week we will continue with our subject, but this second part is entitled, “The Bewitched Mind.” Last we saw that a person’s mind or understanding can be bound, today we will see how it can be bewitched.

When God made man, he gave man understanding. God has implanted this inbuilt mechanism such that for everyday matters, we will not have to nag Him, but rather, by means of our God given understanding be capable of addressing them. There are certain things that we pray and fast about, and God hears us in amazement, because as far as he is concerned, we should be able to conquer the matter via our understanding. For instance, did you have to consult with God for the lotion that used today? What about the combing of your hair this morn? Did you also ask God to tie your shoe lace? These things are within the capacity of our understanding. As such, we should employ our understanding to its finality before approaching God in prayer and fasting.

In Galatian3:1, Paul writes to the Galatians “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth,^[^a]before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?”

In other words, what Paul is saying here is that, the works that the Galatians manifest can only attributed to those whose minds or understanding has been bewitched.

Witches have the ability to evaluate the capability of a person’s understanding, to plunder it, bewitch it, and even employ it. They do this because they are wicked and jealous. They transact by withdrawing the understanding and even depositing demons. You will thus find yourself calculating and scheming wickedly– know that there is someone somewhere using your understanding for such undesirable and unfitting things. Furthermore, victims of such procrastinate for years and make excuses that they are still preparing themselves, but they today find themselves unmarried and 50 years of age.

You must know that this person has been bewitched at some point or another. Moreover, victims will not be awakened to their hard life but they will tolerate it and even say “no problem!” Victims include those who easily and regularly sit passively in front of the TV for hours. Victims may even experience headaches, backaches, eye pain and dark spots, brain tumours, and ringing in the ears. Apart from such medical manifestations, one whose understanding may be bound, bewitched, or plundered may even lose their passion to be productive in decent affairs. The person has basically become defective; ever planning but not performing. Students may even find it hard to pay attention and achieve at school.

It is written in 1 John 5:20, “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding...”

Everyone has an inbuilt compartment for understanding. But if someone wants to fix you, they will employ the kind of witchcraft where demons are sent to bind, limit or bewitch the mind. One’s understanding is unfruitful because it is bewitched. When it is limited you will pray, fervently even for things that even God will begin to wonder ‘are you seriously asking me for that? You will begin to depend on others for solutions, and when you do that you become their slave, whereas you already have answers within. We need to be so in tune with Holy Spirit that when we plan, it is He who is planning; when we think, it is He who is thinking.

If you read the scriptures carefully enough, you will see that God is understanding in nature. Psalm 147:5 “Great is our LORD, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.” If God has understanding, we should too.

God gave understanding to workmen under Moses. In Exodus 35:30-5 we read: “And Moses said to the children of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship. And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen, and of the weaver—those who do every work and those who design artistic works.”

God is a God of praise, and He even requires that we praise Him with understanding (see Psalm 47:7). So the next time you praise Him, behold how he died at the cross!

Saul and his servant first used their understanding to search out his father’s lost donkeys before approaching the Man of God (see 1 Samuel 9:3-6). Before approaching a seer, prophet or other Man of God, have you employed your understanding?

In Exodus 7:10-12, the Bible says, that Pharaoh summoned the wise men (men of understanding) along with his sorcerers and magicians. They were urgently summoned and by means of their understanding and/ or witchcraft, they were required to imitate the wonder that Moses performed. There are many who have understanding for wicked, and they use it for evils such as conning, stealing and forging. But you are supposed to have understanding and for good.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon also had his wise men along with his magicians and enchanters because he knew that some matters were resolved purely by understanding. Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (Belteshezzar, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego) were geniuses who were especially employed in King Nebs service (see Daniel 1:19-20).

In 2 Samuel 14:19-20, King David had sufficient understanding to keep Joab in tow. He later advised his son Solomon, the incoming King to deal with him by understanding. We later read that Solomon brought down the death penalty upon Joab (1 Kings 2).

Jesus even said for us to love the LORD your God, with all you heart, should, mind and strength (see Mark 12:30.)

Let us look in the book of Ephesians, where this understanding that has been bewitched, has been called understanding that has been darkened. Ephesians 4:17-19 “This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.”

When God made man, he made him with three components: the spirit (which is the person), the body, and thirdly the soul. The soul is composed of three departments namely, the mind, will, and emotions. The mind is simply defined as the department of thought, and within the mind, there is the element of understanding. This is independent of education, such that even uneducated villagers possess it and you will be amazed at their reasoning.

Understanding is important in life. It is required for you to secure a job. It is required for you to marry; you must understand that you need to have a relationship with someone and later agree to be married to that person. Our blessings have been placed within the employment of our understanding. God has helped your life by giving you understanding , it is a God-given solution implanted within.

When your understanding returns it will be as if you have woken from slumber, a spiritual slumber. Your life will begin afresh. When they bound or bewitched your understanding, it is that they induced a slumber upon you even though you are wide awake and moving. But today you will wake up from your slumber in Jesus Holy Name. God requires people to have understanding. When you break the yoke of bondage and bewitchment from your understanding, whatever the wicked have achieved on account of your understanding will be dwindle and perish.

Wicked people may be employing your or even your children’s understanding to run their shops, or maintain a political career. The understanding that God has given you to construct a building, may very well be plundered and is being used to reproduce demons under the sea. The kingdom of the devil is basically built in utilizing what God has created. The devil is not a creator, but he abuses who God has created. There are people whose understanding has been used to make you miserable. To every bondage (financial, illness, etc.), there is an understanding that the kingdom of darkness has employed to design (like software) that bondage.

You may envy wicked people but note that their success may be founded on the binding and bewitching of a person’s understanding, so as to capitalize on it instead of the victim. They can plunder your performance and competence and perform wonders to their gain. So do not be hasty in celebrating the success of others. When they steal your understanding they unleash within you the fear of speaking and starting. But today we want our heart of courage restored in the Name of Jesus. We want our rightful understanding back in the Name of Jesus. No more dilly dallying!

Developed nations have employed the understanding of their people to further their nations. If your understanding is sound, what business have you launched this year? How many business trips have you been on this year? How much money have you made this year?

PRAYER

(Know that when you begin to say “in the name of Jesus”, things happen in the spiritual realm, and the bondage and bewitchment over your understanding will be broken.)

I call forth my understanding in the Name of Jesus! I boldly call it forth! I command forth understanding to start a business, apply for a job, to know what to do, to live in peace.

I contend in the Name of Jesus, I command the understanding which has been stolen from me to be restored. Understanding that has been stolen, be restored in the Name of Jesus! Today, I want my understanding back today in the Name of Jesus.

Pacific ocean, Indian ocean, and all places and persons who are hosting my understanding, I command my understanding to come forth mightily to me by the blood of the Lamb. I command every demon, genie, unclean spirit to let go of my understanding in the Name of Jesus!

Every man, woman, or child’s mind is being used to create bondages, sickness, destruction in my life, I refuse it in the Name of Jesus.

I remove darkness from my understanding in the Name of Jesus.

Spiritual bondages, bondages of the family, be broken in the Name of Jesus. With my understanding, I will remove poverty from my family line in the Name of Jesus.

Those who enriched themselves by employing my understanding, I command those gains and riches to miraculously be transferred to me in the Name of Jesus. As of today, they will never again subdue my understanding, the yoke has been broken in the name of Jesus.

I receive understanding to speak well with people in the Name of Jesus, that my words will win them over that they may help me, with business capital or otherwise. I command forth understanding to be able to see tomorrow before it comes.

Father, I thank you for understanding, I receive it in the Name of Jesus! Thank you that those who used my understanding have been bowed at my feet. Father, thank you for as of today, right now – plans for money, prosperity, is within me. I thank you LORD because of what you have done for me. I will continue to deal with them with our understanding, in the name of Jesus.Amen
